Why Kate?

As an aspiring kindergarten teacher, I took a job as a play therapist to help pay tuition bills while hopefully getting a little experience to help me in my career.  Little did I know that my whole life would change as I met a little girl with tight curls and a love for all things musical.  Kate filled my days with singing and swinging and drumming on all the furniture.  Through Kate, I learned that the best ways to learn are through the things that matter in our hearts, that our best selves shine brightest when we have nurturing and meaningful relationships, and that each of has a way to communicate best and it's usually with our souls.  Kate was the inspiration for everything I have done since that point on and she keeps me thinking about ways to improve the treatment of individuals with autism, focusing on approaches that incorporate relationships, play, and the things that make us smile.
